Title of the Scheme

PRE-MATRIC SCHOLARSHIPS TO THE CHILDREN OF THOSE PARENTS WHO ARE ENGAGED IN UN-CLEAN OCCUPATION.

Introduction

The people who are engaged in unclean occupations like flaying, tanning, cleaning etc are most backward and their literacy percentage is least when compared to others. Therefore, in order to improve their literacy level, children of such people are being encouraged to study by giving them scholarships and some other incentives.

Description

This is a Centrally sponsored scheme (CSS) where 50% of grants come from Government of India and 50% is borne by the State Government, after deduction of committed liability

The following are the details of the scholarships.

Day Scholars:-

Class I to V - Rs. 40.00 per month for 10 months.
Class VI to VIII - Rs. 60.00 per month for 10 months.
Class IX to X - Rs. 75.00 per month for 10 months.

Hostellers:-

Class III to VIII - Rs. 300. per month for 10 months per student.
Class IX to X - Rs. 300.00 per month for 10 months per student.

And adhoc grant of Rs. 550/- to day scholar and Rs. 600/- to hostellers.

Eligibility

All students whose parents are engaged in unclean occupations are eligible for scholarships under this scheme. The selection of the children whose parents are engaged in unclean occupation is made separately by the school headmaster and sent to the T.S.W.O for sanctioning. Children who reside in the government or aided hostels are also eligible for scholarship.

Documents Required
  1. Caste Certificate
  2. Occupational certificate of the parents issued by Corporation or Municipality authorities.

The Taluk Social Welfare Officers at the Taluk Levels.

Authorities to be approached in case of delay

The Taluk Social Welfare officer at Taluk level or District Social Welfare office at District level. The Chief Executive officer of the Zilla Panchayat can also be approached.
