Title of the Scheme



In order to inculcate a competitive spirit among SC children for scoring better marks in the exams, Merit scholarships are given in addition to Pre-Matric scholarship.


The students have to fulfill the following conditions to become eligible for Merit scholarship.

They must belong to Scheduled Caste only.

They must have obtained not less than 60% of Marks in the annual examination of the Previous class.

The annual income of the parents is not considered for merit scholarship. The merit scholarship rates are as follows-

Middle school: V to VII Std - Rs. 75/- p.a.

Secondary/ High school: VIII to X Std - Rs. 100/- p.a.

This amount is given in addition to Rs.75/- and  Rs. 100/- per annum as Pre-Matric scholarship

Any school going student with good merit in annual exams is eligible for Merit scholarship He / she should be recommended by the Head Master / Head mistress of the concerned school for Scholarship. .

Documents Required
  1. Caste Certificate.
  2. Completed application form forwarded through the school authorities.
Whom to Approach

Prescribed application forms are obtained from the Taluk Social Welfare officer by concerned Headmaster/ Head mistress.

A list of eligible students is furnished along with duly filled in application form and a copy of marks card and caste certificate to the concerned Taluk Social Welfare Officer for sanctioning.

After the scrutiny of the application forms, the T.S.W.O. sanctions the scholarship and sends the Cheque to the school for disbursement.

Time Schedule

After the commencement of a new Academic year, the merit scholarship for the previous year will be sanctioned, based on the performance in the exams, of the concerned student.

Authorities to be approached in case of delay

The Taluk Social Welfare officer at Taluk level or District Social Welfare office at District level.
